The salons are organized as part of a wider project between MuHKA and Extra City, centering on questions that seem crucial to the cultural policies of their respective institutions.
Born in 1960, De Baere is a curator, art theorist and author of several contemporary art publications. He also was the co-curator of Documenta IX in Kassel, Germany. Since 2002, he has been the director of the MuHKA, in Antwerp, Belgium.
